I studied three dimensional design at The Bath Academy of Art and Design majoring in Ceramics and have been working for many years using a wide range of materials including Clay, Wire, Silver and Copper.
Bird Sculptures would describe my most recent work, originally made as props for Cloud Cuckoo Land in a production of Aristophanes "Birds" at Cardiff's Sherman Theatre. The birds made of copper are weather resistant. My Garden Sculpture in wire takes the form of giant flowers. These weather resistant forms happily sway in natural boarders but also stand alone. When working with clay I have a particular interest in porcelain. I love its smooth translucent quality, I also love the way clay has a memory. It is this quality that inspires the surface decoration on the plates and clocks that I have made. I enjoy the challenge when it comes to creating a new piece of work it is especially exciting when working on commissioned pieces. I am very happy to consider all commissions. |
